To Boldly Go… Ministry amongst Muslims from a Risk Averse Culture
The Global Connections Muslim World Forum continues to examine issues which are relevant to the work and activities of agencies and churches engaging with Muslims around the world and locally and the Forum meeting on Wednesday 4 October 2017, will look at further issues ...
We observe widespread disillusionment with Islam amongst many Muslims, which creates great opportunities for the Gospel. Yet, we notice that few people are willing to go as workers into Muslim-majority countries and contexts. Is this a reflection of our risk averse culture? What is our theology of risk? Does the (apparent) lack of sending originate in candidates, home churches, organisations or elsewhere? What are the longer term consequences for engaging with diaspora communities in the UK and elsewhere?
Three contributors have been confirmed, covering: (i) the theology of risk; (ii) member care perspectives; and (iii) working in high risk settings. A fourth presenter has been approached to give case studies on different aspects of working in risk-filled contexts.
The meeting starts with refreshments (tea and coffee) at 11:30am and finishes at 4:00pm.
The cost is £15 to people from GC member agencies and churches. Cost for non GC members is £45. Drinks are included in the price but please bring your own lunch.
