Emmanuel, God with us. The Holy Spirit, God within us. What does it mean to have the Spirit of God taking up residence in our lives? Leading, guiding, encouraging, comforting, equipping and enabling us? Jesus has told us to get on with the work. To make disciples, preach the gospel. ‘As the Father sent me, so I am sending you’. The good news is, we are not alone. As His people, we are filled with His presence, and live in His power. We are equipped from heaven for His work on earth. We are not alone as we go into the world of our workplace, our family, our street, town, village or city. We are not alone as we go into the classroom, the retirement home, the factory floor or the office. We are not left to our own devices to find the words to say or the way to live. We have the gift of the Spirit of God as we carry out His work in His world.
Each year there is an extensive Mission Resource Area, just beside the Main Tent, presenting opportunities and needs of mission both locally and globally. The Area provides a great opportunity to hear stories of how God is at work both here at home and right around the world. The Mission Resource Area will provide a space to be inspired and encouraged as we seek to live missionally both here at home and globally. We would love to chat and share with you some of the encouragements that we are seeing as God transforms lives right around the world!
MAP will be running seminars this year; The seminars will be taking the four Gospels and Acts, looking at the audience they were written to, and delving a bit deeper into what they can show us about how we do mission. Over the course of the five seminars, we’ll be looking at community work, Bible translation, engagement in the public square, persecution, human rights and much more. We hope that the seminars will shine a light on the great work that is being done by a variety of mission agencies, but also provide a framework of how we can all be involved in this mission in our schools, workplaces, families and communities. Come and join us!
