Relating to people from different cultures
Mission amongst many cultures in the UK
The UK has been enriched over the years by many people from other countries coming to make their home here, either permanently or temporarily. Their customs and traditions may be different, their concerns, ideas and their way of thinking may not be the same. Family life may have different priorities and ways of behaving. Whilst we can learn so much from others, we also wish to build up good relationships and friendships with those in our locality and we may wish to share something of our Christian faith with those around us.
How do we do this without causing misunderstandings?

Mission TO the UK
This is another important area of mission in the UK, crossing cultures and faiths. Each year many come from overseas specifically to share their faith with people in Britain, sometimes amongst those from their own country and sometimes amongst all. How do we encourage those from overseas who have come to share Jesus’ love? How do we make sure they have the opportunity to do what they feel God is calling them to do? How do we give a welcome that is genuine and open, without causing misunderstandings through a mutual lack of knowledge of other cultures? Do British Churches need to change in order to be more welcoming? How do we make all feel comfortable, welcome and part of the church family? What does multi-cultural church look like?
Take a look at the The Centre for Missionaries from the Majority World website for some really helpful advice, events and help.
