www.realhope.pl provides some interesting background to the country and history.
Some might remember Lech Walesa, the founder and leader of Solidarność (Solidarity) who was instrumental in transforming Poland from its years of Communist rule.
Poland became a member of the European Union in May 2004, marking the start of the migration of many Poles across Europe and particularly to the UK. In 2009, there were still between 650,000 – 750,000 Polish immigrants in the UK.
