Criminal Record Disclosure Checks
This page is purely for information only without any engagement or responsibility on the part of Global Connections.
Criminal Record disclosure checks are available for organisations based in the UK. For those based in England and Wales a Disclosure and Barring Service criminal record check is available. For those in Scotland checks are available through Disclosure Scotland and for those in Northern Ireland checks are available through Access NI.
Organisations recruiting workers from abroad who have resided in the UK may also be able to obtain an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) through ACRO.
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks. A DBS check may be needed for certain paid positions and voluntary work, where working with children or vulnerable adults. Information about DBS checks can be found on the UK Government website. There are different levels of check and eligibility criteria.
