Hyperinflation causes despair: Venezuelans from all walks of life are suffering and in despair as hyperinflation continues. Violence regularly erupts on the streets as people reach the point of desperation. Around two million people have now left the country in the last few years having lost all hope of supporting themselves if they remained. The Bible Society in Venezuela is responding by joining efforts to bring aid and help where possible. Naturally their main heart is to share God's word and restore hope where it is gone. One way of doing this is to help equip church leaders to stand on God’s word and inspire their congregations to do the same.

New N. Sami Bible translation: A new Bible translation in the N. Sami language will give access to 10,000s Sami speakers, especially to young people who struggle to understand the dated language in older versions. Pray that God’s word will reach all Sami people.
Church under the tree: Give thanks to God that another church has been born in South West Nigeria where before there was none. The church meets in an open space under a tree and is made up of people who were involved in a Bible listening group facilitated by the Bible Society of Nigeria. They gave their lives to Christ after watching the Jesus film and began listening to the audio Bible. New listening groups are being set up all over the country as people respond to Jesus. Pray for this growing work in Nigeria, that even more people would see the Jesus film and listen to God's Word. Ask that God would strengthen new churches.
Reaching Prisoners: Honduras is in a state of political unrest with protests, riots, looting and violence. Yet God is at work in one of the most corrupt and violent places on earth. There are amazing opportunities to reach prisoners, the police force and the military. More and more police officers have been requesting Bibles. A partnership between the Bible Society in Honduras and the Christian Police Ministry has seen Bible studies established in police stations. There is also an increasing interest in the more formal presence of army chaplains in all the military bases as a result. Over 16,000 police and military are now attending spiritual meetings nationwide. There’s such hunger to study the Bible. At two maximum security prisons in Honduras God has opened the door wide. More than 2,000 maximum security prisoners now have personal Bibles. Praise God that throughout the prison system 10,000 detainees meet for weekly Bible studies.

Audio, visual and print: Suriname Bible Society has the opportunity to work in the three small countries located at the northeast coast of South America: Suriname, Guyana and French Guyana. Working in these three different countries with each one having their own identity, ethnic, religion and language groups, social and economic structure is an extra motivation to reach everyone in these countries with the word of God. Pray for those that need to hear the word that they would have it in their preferred format, audio, visual or print. Praise God for the new Bible in Sranang Tongo and pray for the ongoing Bible translation into Surinamese Javanese.
