Pavement Project counselling programme: Lifewords has taken Pavement Project, a counselling programme for children-at-risk, to Venezuela, which is in the midst of economic collapse and political turmoil; 94% of Venezuelans live in poverty, and four million people have fled to neighbouring countries in search of work and security. Alicia’s mother is one of these people. Alicia*, 11 years old, felt abandoned and alone, and was terribly afraid that her mother would forget her. She said “I feel like a notebook from which a sheet has been torn off, and then it is no longer the same notebook, a part is missing. My heart is broken.” Pray that more and more children would know God’s love for them through Pavement Project, and that it would help bring change to Venezuela. *names have been changed.
Nativity story booklets used in outreach: Hundreds of churches and schools all around the UK used Lifewords’ resources over the Christmas period, with over 150,000 booklets telling the nativity story being given out at services, community events, and in schools. Please pray for all of those people who will have experienced the story, some for the very first time. Thank God that the generosity of Lifewords’ supporters enabled so many people to make a change for life in their communities, and that those churches and schools can continue to reach into their communities this year, by giving and living life words.
God's hope to survivors of natural disasters: Indonesia has recently suffered a series of natural disasters, including a major tsunami. This impacted the lives and livelihoods of over 500 people on the islands of Java and Sumatra, leaving communities devastated. Global Christian charity, Lifewords is currently resourcing pastors and volunteers with Bible booklets, as they bring God’s hope, healing, and comfort to survivors. Please pray for people in Indonesia who are experiencing hopelessness in the face of crisis. Pray that with the help of organisations and partnerships, these broken communities may receive the support they need to help rebuild their lives, homes and hearts. Pray too for the protection of Christians who are serving in the midst of chaos and trauma.
