Latest Prayers

Please pray for our teams working amongst Palestinians and Arab Israelis. Pray for hearts and minds to be opened to the gospel as they share Jesus with those they work amongst. Pray for one of our teams who partner with Messianic Jewish believers to help and pray for Palestinians, as they seek together to share Jesus in the midst of the current difficult situation.

Interested contacts and new believers in the Arabian Peninsula usually start their journey with Jesus with many misconceptions about the Bible and the way of real faith. Pray for deep renewing of their minds and transformation of their lives.

In Kosovo, we are planning an Easter evangelism among friends and on the streets of Peja. We will invite people the week before Easter and on Easter Sunday at our church premises. Pray for people to respond to the invitation.

Please pray for a group of young men in Northern Nigeria, who are zealous for the LORD and His glorious Gospel! They were part of a recent Al Massira group being trained to help equip, teach and support the Church in sharing Christ with their majority-religious neighbours in their contentious region and beyond. Pray they will be built-up, commissioned to go and that the Church would be strengthened and multiplied throughout the communities. Pray for divine wisdom and boldness and for the LORD’s presence, power, provision and peace to be at work in and through them. For God's glory!"

In some points in North Africa there is amazing freedom to distribute Bibles openly on the street. OM teams have worked with local churches and other ministries to place millions of Bibles in recent years. The entrance of God’s Word brings light.

Such uncertain times are opportunities for Christians in Israel to shine. Ask that there will be many fruitful circumstances when people find new faith and hope in Christ.

OM began with a short-term trip to Mexico over 60 years ago! Thank God for how the work has grown - from a small bookshop and radio programme to diverse projects spanning outreach to Mexico’s indigenous peoples to work with thousands of newcomers - refugees from many south American countries.

Years ago, we sent 12 young people from Afghanistan to Korea to study. They have returned to be leaders in the provinces amongst new believers. One was beaten and lost an eye and damaged the other. In Iran they have saved his eyesight. Pray for his safe return to Afghanistan, where he can continue to minister, teach, and provide for the families in need. We ask for protection over him as he journeys back to his homeland, and we pray for the resources and funds needed to support his mission. May his efforts bear fruit in the lives of those he serves, bringing hope, comfort, and spiritual nourishment to many.

In South Asia, they have some of the highest numbers of unreached people groups in the world, with the equivalent of only 1 full time Christian worker for every 500,000 Muslims. Pray for the Gospel to be spread here.

Christian literature is a huge challenge in Japan. Many Japanese Christians testify to the key part which literature and access to a Bible have played in their coming to faith, however literature is hard to obtain and expensive. Print runs for Christian books are small and stock often runs out. Evangelistic resources which are fresh and which appeal to young people are particularly needed. Pray that Bibles and other Christian literature become widely available. Pray for those writing new and innovative materials to receive guidance from the Holy Spirit and to write materials which will enable people to come to faith.

Pray with us for our work in Zimbabwe. Please pray for: - Pastor Mishack and the team at the Houtberg Childcare Centre - Healing & hope for those children living at the shelter who have no family to care for them - Those children with relatives, for safe, reliable family members to be identified s - Success in the agricultural projects which sustain the home - Continued progress in learning for the children, despite their histories of trauma and the challenges of local schools.

Pray for our partners in Cambodia, and the children they support. Please pray for: - The team at Bethel Mission Organisation, our partners near Phnom Penh - Educational progress for children attending the graveyard preschool we support - Effective welfare and emotional support for the children - Families struggling with insecure work, inadequate housing and poor sanitation - Wisdom in developing this work.

Pray with us for Spurgeons Academy in Kibera, Kenya. Give thanks for our Lent Appeal and a recent trust grant which released much-needed funding. Please pray for: - Our partner Kenyanito and the staff team - Protection, health, good education and welfare care for the children - Provision for families despite cost of living challenges - Positive outcomes now the school offers junior high school education as well as primary education - More sponsors, to improve regular funding in support of children.

Please pray for our work in South Sudan. Pray civil conflict ends and famine is avoided. Please pray for: - recent emergency relief efforts to support 650 people left hungry and homeless by conflict - effective help for Thurlith School, a community school supporting highly vulnerable orphaned and abandoned children - climate change effects including a recent 45 degree heatwave - improved access to education in a country where almost 3 in 5 children are not in school.

Pray for impact from our Marwari gospel broadcasts. Marwari is the main language of the Indian state of Rajasthan and is also spoken in many other places throughout India. Approximately 934,000 people speak this language. Pray that listeners will be challenged by the Christian programmes that they hear on their radios today.

Pray for Radio HCJB, Voz y Manos (Voice and Hands), and other Christian ministries in Ecuador as they work together to plan a special conference in June. The team hopes to train 50 young people on how to use audio-visual tools and the internet in their local church and for missions. Pray for inspiring discussions and new ways to share God's love story in Ecuador.

A mission team visited Athens last month in partnership with the Quest Academy online seminary. The team consisted of Iranian Muslim background believers from Europe as well as individuals from the UK. They had some great amazing opportunities to share their faith stories with the refugees at our partner clinic and at the Malakasa refugee camp. Pray that the Lord will continue to challenge the team members as they look at future mission opportunities and pray for those who were befriended by them.

Pray for 'Xercise', an event we are running in November for Christian young people who are considering a military career. May it help them to see that, whether they pursue a military career or not, their walk with the Lord is paramount. More information on Xercise can be found at : sasra.org.uk/xercise

As we mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings on 6 June, pray more Christians would understand that their prayers for the British Armed Forces are as essential now as ever.

Pray for ChrisFon’s witness to the Pashtun community in Pakistan. They are known as a ‘warrior race’ but so far ChrisFon’s evangelists have found they have hearts open to the Gospel. “These sheep now have a shepherd who tends them” Give thanks to God that many people working on the brick kilns are now walking faithfully with God, thanks to the godly witness of ChrisFon.

Please pray that the women given sewing machines by ChrisFon in Pakistan would be able to make money for their families from the clothes they make. Praise God that, thanks to generous donations to our Water Appeal, we have been able to provide mosquito nets for 1,000 families! Please pray that as ChrisFon distribute the nets, they would point the people they serve to Jesus.

Thank God that the young mothers supported by Wakisa Ministries receive individual counselling sessions. Pray that, with the help of Wakisa, they gain the skills they need to process what they have been through. Pray that God provides the finances needed by Wakisa Ministries to furnish their newly-constructed health centre with medical equipment.

Please pray for Word of Hope’s plans for a summer Bible camp. Ask God to give them creativity and wisdom as they begin to organise this. Praise God that a church has contributed towards funding a new generator for Word of Hope Church. Pray that our grant applications would be successful to cover the remaining costs.

Please continue to pray for DR Congo and our ministry partner there, HEAL Africa. May a resolution to the conflict be found. Ask that God would bring peace to those traumatised. Give thanks to God for HEAL Africa’s project which provides support and education for young people living on the streets. Praise God for the new art class which helps the youth to process trauma.

Pray that God would continue to use HEAL Africa as a witness to Jesus’ love through this time of conflict in DR Congo. May God keep them safe and bring to them the most vulnerable. Also, to continue praying for those who have been forced from their villages by the ongoing conflict and are currently living in the internally displaced people camps.

Give thanks to God that young mothers supported by Wakisa Ministries are enjoying arts and crafts classes. They have made doormats, baby blankets and bags. Thank God that the young mothers have also been learning about urban gardening. They have recently planted tomatoes and spinach to use in their cooking classes.

Potter’s House would like us to pray for God to lead them to the right people to bring onto their microenterprise programme. Pray those who need it most would get the opportunity to advance their small business. Praise God for the way that Margarita has improved in her health and studies since being supported through the Potter’s House nutrition programme. She is on track to become a preschool teacher!

Potter’s House would like us to praise God that communities they support are becoming increasingly open to receiving psychological care. People are using the tools they’ve been taught to move forwards. Pray also that Potter’s House would be able to find a larger facility for their community centre in the Western Highlands. They would love to have the capacity to serve even more Treasures.

Pray for wisdom & joy for the women who are being mentored for leadership roles in women’s ministry by Medical Ambassadors Foundation. Praise the Lord for the faith of Nori, an elder of the church in Vlocisht, Albania. He has been faithfully praying for his sick mother - she is now healed and is grateful for her son’s witness. Also, praise God for Vjollca and Verjon, a couple from Vloçisht, who are open to the Gospel.

Thank God that through their witness, using Christian broadcasting, Kanal Hayat is seeing an increasing number of new believers in Turkey & West Asia. Pray for local believers to be able to effectively connect with new believers and disciple them. Ask God to use Kanal Hayat’s new online series ‘Virtues of Christianity’ to spur believers in Turkey and West Asia to live godly lives which will point others to Jesus and that new people would continue to hear about their programmes through word of mouth.

Ask God to continue to bring local people who don’t yet know about Jesus to Antakya Christian Church, as well as mature believers.

Praise God that, thanks to support from WorldShare, the staff’s salaries at High Priest Academy that were once in arrears are now paid on time. Thank God for the first year of our partnership with Living Word of Faith church, who run the High Priest Academy. Pastor Sam shares: “WorldShare’s unique strength in providing for our needs has been more than we could have ever imagined.” Ask God for success in our six grant applications seeking funds for an ICT suite for High Priest Academy. This suite would enable students to learn important life skills.

Give thanks for the 12 children who graduated Beginning of Life’s Urban Kids project last year and have now successfully completed their first term at primary school. Praise God for the holistic development they received from a young age & the impact this has had. Also, give thanks to God for Beginning of Life’s Psychological Art Studio in Moldova which continues to support those suffering from post-traumatic stress against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Ask God to bring peace, healing and political stability to the nation of Haiti. Pray that PiFò Haiti would be able to use their food programmes to support those on La Gonâve who are desperately hungry. Continue to thank God for PiFò Haiti’s new well at their community garden project, which is such a blessing to the local people, especially given the current instability.

Beginning of Life in Moldova would like us to pray for God’s guidance & strength as they seek new ways to meet the needs of their beneficiaries. Ask God to provide for them as they struggle with unpredictable price increases due to the war in Ukraine. Pray they would be able to purchase essential supplies for their programmes at a fair price.

The Evangelical Church in North Macedonia’s event for families with special needs was a success! Praise God for two sisters who went, Vicki and Gorde - they were so blessed by the event. Ask God to continue to bring lots of children to the Evangelical Church in North Macedonia’s Bible clubs. They have been well attended this year. Pray that all who attend would have their hearts open and put their trust in Jesus.

Praise God that the Evangelical Church in North Macedonia has commissioned its mobile Christian bookstore and coffee bar. Pray for fruit from this ministry as church members travel across the country in the van, sharing the Good News.

Thank God for the first and second year students of JKPS’ Diploma in Ministry course who participated in a successful outreach programme on two islands in Bangladesh. Thank God also for the graduation ceremony in April for JKPS’ Bethel Training Institute. Please pray that the event would be a great celebration of hard work and commitment, and that God would direct the future plans of those who graduated.

Please pray that JKPS would get a licence for their newest centre in Sonagachi, the red-light district of Kolkata. It is a shelter for children of sex workers, but they need a government licence to begin operating.

Millions of Malawians are struggling with the impact of back-to-back climate disasters – last year Cyclone Freddy devastated southern Malawi. This year El Niño has affected the same region. Long spells of drought have caused healthy growing crops to wither and die. Church pastors and congregations are wondering how they will feed their families today, let alone through the coming year until the next harvest in 2025. Let us pray that God will provide them with daily bread. Let’s pray too for initiatives that will improve these communities’ resilience in the future.

Please remember SASRA Scripture Readers in prayer over Mental Health Awareness Week (13 - 19 May). Every day, they minister to people who are under immense pressure at work and who are often living away from their main support networks. Pray that anyone who approaches a Scripture Reader would feel listened to, understood, cared for and loved, all for the glory of God.

This month, we end our partnership in Albania, after more than 20 years. Give thanks for all God has done in Bathore and pray His blessing on the work of the New Day centre. Give thanks and pray for: - Evis and her dedicated team - the families of Bathore - may the centre continue to be a beacon of light and hope in their lives - the kindergarten, school clubs, women’s and youth groups and work with disabled children - the partnership with organic plant company BioAlb which delivers a sustainable income for the centre.

Please pray that as we lead into Passover (an Old Testament Feast) that CMJ UK will have the opportunity to engage with Jewish communities sharing the truths of the Old Testament. Pray that many will remember how God gave his people a way to escape Egypt and that many will have an interest in the Passover feast's relevance for today.

Women in Central Asia: Pray that poor women who are abused would know they are created in the image of God and highly valued by Him (Genesis 1:26-27). Pray that more of us who have a voice will affirm and advocate for the dignity of women and demonstrate Proverbs 31 to the world: ‘Open our mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute... defend the rights of the poor and needy.’

Pilgrimage in Japan: A WEC team are researching and developing resources about Christian pilgrimage tracing the journey of 16th century Jesuit Christians through Honshu to Nagasaki where they were martyred. Pray for more team members to share stories, inspiring interest in the gospel they gave their lives for.

Matt & Margaret in France: There is an evident move of the Holy Spirit in Matt and Margaret’s church. Each Sunday they put out more chairs. They ask: ‘Pray for a family who came to church recently, to see what an evangelical church was like. They were thrilled with the welcome, and hardly ever miss a meeting. They now plan to marry. Do pray for them to be kept by His power.’

Researching in the Republic: Seven WEC members have formed a research team to investigate whether the Lord is calling WEC to minister in the Republic of Ireland. Pray that through visits and discussions with church and community leaders in Ireland, prayer and research into the country’s spiritual climate and perceived needs, the research team can help WEC leadership to discern whether now might be the season for a WEC team to work there.

We also run all ages youth clubs. We are having issues with the numbers and regularity. Once these clubs used to be almost overcrowded and immensely popular but lately, we are only having a handful of attendees in all three clubs we run. Please pray for the team for wisdom for the way forward. Amer, delivers free bread, received for free from the local bakery to bless the local residents and establish relationships. Please pray for good friendships!

Praise the Lord for a special, blessed, and productive time in Ukraine. We have fulfilled our objectives for this trip and have connected well with many people, especially some of the team members in the Irpin church plants and here in Lviv with the New Hope team. Please continue praying for the situation in Ukraine.

Please pray that churches across the UK will continue to take up Torch's Sight Loss Friendly Church support and resources, helping them to be truly welcoming and inclusive spaces for people with sight loss.

Please pray for Torch Trust Malawi's goat project, which aims to distribute goats to blind and partially sighted people in Malawi, supplying them with a livelihood. Pray for the team involved in running the project, including the vet, the Torch staff and volunteers, pray that the scheme will provide vital support to people with sight loss.

Mekong Minorities – The Dong people group live in very remote areas in the region around the Mekong River. Pray for creative ways for gospel workers to share the good news of Jesus in these areas.

Lift up to the Lord OMF workers Martha Oates and Simon & Hana Hsu as they prepare to launch a new Shopworkers Church in Kaohsiung. Pray for the process of surveying shopworkers in the area and for spiritual protection when reaching out to shopworkers who may be interested in meeting.

Half of the 42,000 communities in the Philippines still lack a church that clearly teaches Bible and shares the good news of Jesus in a meaningful way. Pray for efforts to plant more churches in the Philippines.

A young bio-medical engineer from the UK will be travelling to Ecuador this month with Reach Beyond to support water and medical projects with indigenous jungle communities. Ana is joining the team in a town called Shell on the edge of the Amazon Jungle, using her expertise for 3 months to bring practical help and to share the gospel with local people. Pray for resilience as she settles in this new culture, and for opportunities to demonstrate and speak about the love of Jesus to those she meets.

Guayaquil on the coast of Ecuador is the epicentre of current unrest in that country as drugs gangs move in and cause chaos in civil society. In the midst of this, Radio HCJB-2 remains a beacon of hope in the city. This Christian radio station has been broadcasting a life-affirming message of peace to Guayaquil for over 50 years and is currently moving to a new building as the ministry grows and develops. Pray for safety for staff and volunteers as they serve surrounded by such a high level of violence and uncertainty, and ask that the message of salvation in Christ will touch many people struggling to survive in that tense environment.

Please pray as Jesus instructed in Luke 10 v 2: "The harvest is plentiful” (more than 700 million people in Europe don’t know Jesus) "but the workers are few” (our mission has only around 250 workers). "Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field please pray for more missionaries.

Hold in your prayers HEAL Africa staff members Nicole and Justine - they have both been struggling with illness recently. Pray that God would quickly return them back to full health.

Please pray for Living Word of Faith as they look to raise funds to extend the High Priest Academy school building. May God provide all they need. Praise God also that Living Word of Faith were able to host their annual ‘Love Feast’ for the church and a local troubled community. Attendees were amazed at being loved in such a way.

Thank God that some of the children at Word of Hope Orphanage have received excellent results from their recent school exams. Ask God also to give wisdom and clarity to Word of Hope’s Bible college students as they study subjects such as Christian Ethics, Apologetics & Myanmar Church History.

Give great praise to God that, thanks to the support they received through ChrisFon’s brick kiln projects, 18 families are now debt free! Pray that their testimonies of freedom would point others to Christ. Ask God to help ChrisFon to find suitable people to lead literacy classes at the brick kiln projects located in more remote areas.

Praise God that the sponsored children supported by JKPS had a fantastic time at their Sports Day Celebration last month. May they continue to be built up in confidence. Pray also for the Mahima Homes and Child Sponsorship Programme students that took their Grade 10 and 12 exams in February. Pray that, with the support of JKPS, they would all achieve the results they want.

Please pray for Wakisa Ministries as they deal with steeply rising operational costs, in particular the girls’ hospital bills. Pray for God’s provision.

Kanal Hayat would like us to pray for God to provide the right people to help work on their marketing and communications, enabling CEO Martin to be freed up to focus on other things. Give thanks to God for the opportunity Easter provides for Kanal Hayat as they broadcast the Good News online to people in Turkey and West Asia. May their programmes over the next month speak clearly of the hope & freedom that Christ brings.

In February, the Evangelical Church in North Macedonia held an event for people with special needs and their families. May the 300 people invited that attended, hear and respond to the Good News. Praise God as well for the 10 people at the Evangelical Church in Kavadarci, who have completed the Alpha Course. Pray they would continue to grow in their faith and attend church services.

Antakya Christian Church would like prayer for their children’s ministry. They would love to restart their weekly Gospel outreach events for around 100 local children, providing they have the staff. Thank God as well that they were able to host three events for ladies who had suffered as a result of the earthquake. There were between 60 and 120 at each event. Ask God to bring healing, comfort & peace to those still hurting.

Medical Ambassadors Foundation would like us to pray that the Lord would provide financial support for the new Community Health Evangelism training team in Korçë who are ready to serve. Also, pray for them as they host a seminar for teachers and caregivers of children with disabilities. Ask the Spirit to work in the hearts of those attending to be open to learn and change.

Give thanks to God that, out of the 21 leaders at Beginning of Life’s Urban Teens project, 16 are graduates of the project, which is a great testament to its success. Also, pray for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova as they worry about the ongoing tensions back home. May God use Beginning of Life’s team to bring healing to traumatised hearts & minds.

Praise God that last month, Potter’s House were able to reopen their dental clinic serving a community where they recognised a significant need. Pray this service is a blessing to those who will benefit the most. Pray also for the 25 secondary school students supported by the Potter’s House Education Programme who will be graduating in 2024. Ask God to sustain them and give them wisdom through their final year.

Following prayers last month, PiFò Haiti have decided to drill a well at their garden project to ensure they have secure access to water for their crops. Thank God - we were able to release funds & work is already underway. Also, please continue to pray for PiFò Haiti’s Project Manager, Emerson, who has severe bone pain which has impacted his mobility. Pray he would focus on taking care of himself without feeling guilty about work.

Our prayers are for Hope Clinic and the Maternity Wing. The clinic saw over 44,000 attendees last year, across both general outpatients and the specialist clinics. The work of the dedicated medical team is appreciated by so many people in the community and further afield. Please pray for good sleeping each night for the medical team, who are really busy during the day. For wisdom and guidance for the two doctors as they assess patients and diagnose issues. For continued provision of drugs and other resources needed each day and for safety for the team and strength to do their work.

Please pray for the provision of $50,000 for the Great Commission Movement of Sierra Leone towards development work on their office compound and facilities. This work will help move the ministry towards financial self-sustainability and allow for wider investment in reaching the nation with the Gospel. Pray for the staff of the Great Commission Movement of Sierra Leone as they build relationships and seek inroads into Islamic chiefdoms in the north and east of the country to bring the Gospel through Jesus Film outreaches and church planting.

Please pray for 4 staff from the Great Commission Movement of Sierra Leone as they travel to Libera to complete their programme of key ministry training. Pray for the Great Commission Movement of Sierra Leone Student Ministry as they build Gospel movements on campuses across the country. Pray for students to be bold in sharing their faith, for new students to discover Jesus, grow in their faith and go to reach others, and for the small number of staff to be sustained as they come alongside student leaders.

Our prayers are for Hope Clinic and the Maternity Wing. The clinic saw over 44,000 attendees last year, across both general outpatients and the specialist clinics. Please pray for the ambulance team and that the vehicle will work well despite the state of the rural tracks. For the families in need in the community and many who struggle to get to the clinic. For the final stages of construction of the maternity wing and first midwife house. For provision of two competent midwives and provision of continued funding for the clinic and maternity facilities.

Please pray for Al Massira International and for several trainings (some already underway) in countries in SE Asia. A worker couple are witnessing to Middle Eastern students; others are witnessing to people from East Asia; others are witnessing to SE Asians. Please pray for another training in the SE Asia region next month. May the AM resources (currently translated into 38 languages), continue to help resource the Body of Christ to further train and equip Brother and Sister-workers in their faithful, prayerful pursuit of reaching precious people from all nations, with the glorious Gospel. To the glory of God!

Pray for the colloquium, in March to look at the state of contextualisation in Central Asia. Western and Slavic worldviews will not create a people movement but the gospel free of culture will reach the hearts of these neglected nations. Some 90 leaders will be participating.

Pray for Global Care’s Dalit education project in Patripul, near Mumbai. Director Simon will meet our CEO in Sri Lanka next week (19th - 26th February). Pray for the staff team including managers Mahendra and Manisha. Pray for their protection from high caste groups who object to Dalit education. Pray for resilience and effective learning for more than 200 children attending the GCare Centres. Pray for Dalit girls, who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse.

Madurese in Indonesia: The Madura people are the third largest people group in Indonesia (around 7.7 million), living mostly on East Java and Madura Island. An insightful Madura saying is, 'It is better to die than to be humiliated', and they are renowned as fierce fighters and hard workers, but also for Satay kebabs. They are Sunni Muslim, yet many resort to using amulets, magic spells, or prayers to ancestors in their efforts to find security. Pray for them to hear and understand the gospel.

Komering in Indonesia: These people originated from the Komering River area of south-east Sumatra and subdivide themselves into 'upstream' and 'downstream' communities. Many depend upon rain cisterns or river irrigation for rice cultivation. Changing religion from Islam is very difficult; marriages between a Komering and a non-Muslim is forbidden. They will often call a shaman to heal sick people or to cast out demons. Pray for development projects in the area to open doors for the gospel.

Please pray for Galeed House in Darnall Sheffield who are looking for a new administrator! Louise Liner who has served diligently for seven years is stepping down in March. These students are all ages from young to old, a lot of them are either Asylum seekers or newly arrived in the UK.

Please pray Army and Air Force Scripture Readers would speak the truth in love as they go "behind the wire" to reach British service personnel with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Please pray for a new Administrator for Galeed House in Sheffield, UK. May the right person respond soon to our advertising. The role is crucial for the effective running of our various weekly clubs for this needy community. Many asylum seekers and refugees of different Muslim backgrounds benefit from our services. As our strapline says, we are “A place of friendship where the love of God is demonstrated.”

Very many in Mongolia have yet to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. Please pray for the ministry of Bible videos which are popular and seen by many thousands of Mongolians. The vast majority are not church attendees. Each video addresses a topic Mongolians have an interest in, yet presents clear Bible truth. Please pray for this ministry.

Decades of war, political instability, and extremism have left many in Herat, Afghanistan disillusioned with Islam. Pray that this disaffection would be answered by the gospel, and lead to faith and new life in Jesus Christ for many Herati’s. Pray for greater access by workers to live in Herat, Afghanistan with new and creative entry strategies that provide long-term work options so vital for relationship-building that leads to proclamation.

Pray as we consider the principles of the International Day of Social Justice (20th Feb); pray for human rights, participation, access and equity. Pray we see these flourish in our projects worldwide. Please pray for: increased inclusion for families affected by disability. Increased access to education and health services for minority groups. Equity for girls, disproportionately affected by both Covid and climate change. Pray for greater access to fair legal systems, which support human rights.

This week we pray for our work in Sri Lanka, as CEO John White visits, from 19th-25th February. Pray for safe travelling, good health and energy for John. Pray for wisdom and resources for Sriyani and the team at Community Concern, and thank God for them. Pray for all disadvantaged children attending the Morning Star Care Centre. Pray for growth and good health for children with HIV/AIDS. Finally, pray for learning and new opportunities for women attending parenting and anti-trafficking workshops.

Pray for Global Care’s Dalit education project in Patripul, near Mumbai. Director Simon will meet our CEO in Sri Lanka next week (19th – 26th February). Pray for the staff team including managers Mahendra and Manisha. Pray for their protection from high caste groups who object to Dalit education. Pray for resilience and effective learning for more than 200 children attending the GCare Centres. Pray for Dalit girls, who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse.

Pray with us for Global Care's partners in Syria and the marginalised children attending their Hope Centre. Pray for encouragement for director Afaf and the team at the Hope Centre. Pray for their protection during state monitoring of activities. Pray also for the team to build resilience in the disadvantaged children, all of whom have experienced trauma due to over a decade of conflict. Pray for effective learning and therapeutic interventions for children as well as positive relationships with parents and families.

Zambesi Mission has been piloting a new initiative to provide pastors with a 'library on a tablet'. Used Android tablets with SD card slots are loaded up with Bible study resources from a range of partner organisations, enabling each pastor to have access to their own theological library. The mission’s supporters have given very generously to allow 40 such tablets to be prepared. Please pray for the logistics of getting them to pastors through Zambesi Mission’s office in Malawi. Pray also that these tablets would enhance and enrich each pastor’s ministry, as they receive and use them.

Kosovo is going through a difficult time politically and economically. The national news is warning about the threats of Serbian military invasion in Kosovo. Pray for the peace of God to reign in this region. In the last month over half a million people have left Kosovo, which has brought economic instability. There is also a rise of religious tensions in the country, especially within the Islamic community. We have seen a decline within the evangelical church and the need for workers and missionaries is very high in the country.

There are currently (mid-February 2024) two major ethical issues in France that are in the political spotlight. (1) Likely legislation on end-of-life matters where much will depend on whether palliative care and assisted suicide are linked in the same bill or made the subject of two separate pieces of legislation. French Christians are praying that they will be kept separate. (2) The possible inclusion of abortion as a "guaranteed freedom" in the French Constitution (abortion has been legal, and widely practised, in France since 1975). French MPs voted in favour at the end of January; French senators (who play a similar role to the House of Lords in the UK) are currently debating the issue. Evangelicals (and others) are arguing against the change, on the grounds that it is unnecessary and would diminish the rights of children and medical staff. They would appreciate your prayers on both these topics.

Pray for Moldova, the poorest country in Europe. Many people of working age are leaving the country to find work elsewhere. Pray that they would stay and build up the local economy. Pray especially that Christian young men would choose to stay in the country to share the good news and build up the churches in Moldova.

Please pray for Albania. There are few job opportunities for people, especially outside of Tirana, and many people choose to leave the country to find work. Pray especially that Christian men would stay in the country and share the gospel with other men.

Komering in Indonesia: These people originated from the Komering River area of south-east Sumatra, and subdivide themselves into 'upstream' and 'downstream' communities. Many depend upon rain cisterns or river irrigation for rice cultivation. Changing religion from Islam is very difficult; marriages between a Komering and a non-Muslim is forbidden. They will often call a shaman to heal sick people or to cast out demons. Pray for development projects in the area to open doors for the gospel.

Jambi in Indonesia: Jambi Province on the island of Sumatra has a population of roughly 3.5 million. The largest indigenous people group there are the 1.05 million Jambi Malayu. Their rite of passage to adulthood is often to file the young person's teeth to align them. Most are fishermen, but only a handful follow Jesus. Pray that the trans-migrant churches in Jambi would take up the challenge to share Christ to their Jambi neighbours.

Madurese in Indonesia: The Madura people are the third largest people group in Indonesia (around 7.7 million), living mostly on East Java and Madura Island. An insightful Madura saying is, 'It is better to die than to be humiliated', and they are renowned as fierce fighters and hard workers, but also for Satay kebabs. They are Sunni Muslim, yet many resort to using amulets, magic spells, or prayers to ancestors in their efforts to find security. Pray for them to hear and understand the gospel.

Minangkabau in Indonesia: There are around 6.91 million Minang people spread across Indonesia and they are 99.7% Muslim. Their name reflects an ancient fable about outwitting a Javanese fighting water buffalo. Today they are recognised as good traders of clothing and jewellery and excellent restaurant owners. Their society is matrilineal, meaning an uncle or brother-in-law will make a family’s decisions. Pray for whole families to turn to Christ.
