Help for addicts in Scotland

Scotland has the worst drug-related death rates in Europe. Pray for Betel which focus on those with addictions. Betel in Scotland would like to open a women's centre, and also another men’s centre as their Motherwell property has limited capacity. Pray for the men currently there, for each one to come to freedom in Christ.

Political Bill in France

In December, the French cabinet gave its backing to a bill "supporting Republican principles". Although clearly aimed at tackling radical Islamists after various terrorist incidents, the bill is worded more generally in ways that have raised significant concerns over religious freedom, especially for French protestants. Please pray for various representative organisations such as the National Council of French Evangelicals and the French Protestant Federation as they continue to warn of the dangers in the bill and seek to engage MPs. The bill is likely to be debated in the French National Assembly in February.

Different ways of engaging with Scripture

Bible Digitisation Project

Praise God that because of the extra time that volunteers have been able to give to the Bible Digitisation Project during the pandemic lockdowns, the team completed 43 projects during 2020. That is the largest annual total in the 31 years since the start of the Worldwide Electronic Bible & Book Service (WEBBS). These are Scriptures and Christian materials being produced in digital format ready so they can be made freely available on major platforms like YouVersion.

Thank God that our appeal for more volunteers is bringing enquiries, prayer supporters and some new keyboarding trainees to grow the team so that we can continue to make God's word more accessible in 2021 and beyond.

Brexit and Christian Mission in France

At the time of writing, the outcome of Brexit negotiations is still unclear. It's hard to see how a "no deal" scenario would be good news for any organisation involved in supporting Christian mission in France (or, indeed, Europe more broadly). Please pray that, whatever the final political outcome, the Lord will grant wisdom, creativity, perseverance, and faith to all those seeking to share the Good News of Jesus in France and throughout the European Union.

Students in Ireland

Christian Unions Ireland exists to give every student in Ireland an opportunity to respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. 2020 been a trying year for many, and student ministry workers in Ireland are not exempt. Nevertheless, God’s faithfulness prevails, and we continue to see lives on campuses across our island being transformed for God’s glory. Please pray for Mission Weeks taking place in most CUs during February/March. Pray that the Lord would move mightily to draw people to Himself and Christian students would be brave in inviting their friends to outreach events. Pray for the ‘Uncover Mark’ seeker Bible studies that students across Ireland are doing with non-Christian friends. Pray against the frustration that comes from not being able to meet as normal, and that students will not get fatigued but keep spreading the gospel and being strengthened in God’s Word. Lastly, give thanks for the kindness, prayers and generosity of CUI supporters. Please continue to pray that our abundant Father would supply what we need financially as CUI to continue in the mission He has called us to.
