I always wanted to be a nurse...

Fisherman's Rest Community Projects Malawi | Malawi
“I always wanted to be a nurse, but now I know I can be a doctor” - Gift, age 14

“I always wanted to be a nurse, but now I know I can be a doctor” - Gift, age 14

Growing up in rural Malawi, Gift never thought she could be a doctor. Many girls in Malawi think the same way, many never having the option of being a nurse, dropping out of school after reaching puberty, getting married, working in the fields or falling pregnant.

Through working in schools, we are teaching young people about their potential and encouraging them to achieve their dreams. At Fisherman’s we implement libraries, build classrooms, supplement curriculum teaching, restore safe water to schools, improve toilets, provide hungry school children with food, equipping and empowering young people with the chance to achieve their dreams.

The impact of investing in schools, individuals, and families is priceless, seeing change and development in our local communities is why we are here.
