Bawtry Community Church
BCC is a small to medium-sized evangelical church in the heart of the pretty town of Bawtry to the south of Doncaster, on the South Yorkshire border with Nottinghamshire.
We are known as a relatively informal church with a focus on relevant and engaging Bible teaching. Our attendees range from toddlers to the elderly; Bawtry is predominantly white and comfortable and overall the church reflects this, though we currently have members/ attendees from half a dozen different countries as well as people from different sections of society.
We get on extremely well with the other two churches in the town (Anglican and Methodist) and together project a positive, united witness to the town; including several joint services & events through the year. Several of our people have been in "full-time Christian work", both at home and overseas and the church has a keen mission focus; currently supporting several individuals and organisations.
Since the "lock-down" in March 2020, we have been using Zoom to meet each Sunday at 4pm (BCC@Home) and each Wednesday at 7pm (BCC@Prayer). We also connect through phone, email and cards and have DVDs available for those folk not on the internet.
We appointed a Families & Community Worker in 2018. Chris has been able arrange regular family activities. Through these and involvement in the Baby & Toddlers Group we seek to reach more people in Bawtry to help them understand the relevance, reality and availability of Christ's love. We are now looking to recruit a full-time Assistant Pastor (initially for a three-year term) to work as part of our team and be mentored by our current part-time Pastor.
