Broken Chains UK

Type: Support service
Supporting children affected by Parental Substance Misuse

Broken Chains UK will launch in 2021. When we launch we will provide support for children affected by Parental Substance Misuse. Using Christian values and cutting edge research Broken Chains will focus on developing resilience in the children as well as therapy designed to address the trauma associated with their parents substance misuse.

We have developed resources with the support and advice from some of the leading experts in the UK as well as having spent 9 months researching Parental Substance Misuse, Resilience and trauma. We feel we are in a great position to be able to support children throughout the UK. Although our face to face contact will start primarily in the south west we hope that over the coming years we will be able to expand. Our website and downloadable resources will be available to anyone in the UK. In fact they will be available throughout the world.

Broken Chains is the vision of Andrew Deane-Williams and his wife Abigail. Andrew is a reformed Heroin addict. His drug use has had an incredibly negative affect on his children and even though he is now clean it still affects them. While he was in rehab a number of years ago it became apparent that there was not much support for his children. While reading the Bible one night he came across the passage of scripture where Jesus commands us to look after the widows and the orphans. As he went to bed that night he asked God to show him who the widows and the orphans are. The Lord spoke and after a conversation with his wife the following day Broken Chains was born.

The vision is to have a centre where all the childrens needs are met. Trauma is being dealt with and resilience is being built. How we get there, only God Knows.
