Family Matters Inst
The Institute also delivers innovative and inspirational training and offers consultancy to the Children’s workforce across the UK. We have recently partnered with Family Action to create a Training & Consultancy Partnership. We are also registered ILM and City & Guilds Centre. In the last 2 years we have trained over 1000 practitioners with the majority of our learners on accredited courses.
We run a local schools project in Bedfordshire called SMILE (Supporting Minds In Learning Environments), which addresses emotional well being and resilience. SMILE was set up as a pilot from Targeted Mental Health in Schools funding to deliver mental health awareness seminars and training to school staff including teachers, mentors, school kitchen and grounds staff, that would give them the tools to intervene in supporting children’s behaviour and emotional well being. We delivered the programme to 30 schools and trained over 60 mentors.
In the last 10 years, the Institute has produced various research papers on family, and relationship matters including the original calculation for the cost of family breakdown now used by the UK government and other organisations including the Relationships Foundation.
We also won an award for an evaluative piece on My Baby Brain done for Hertfordshire in 2013.
