Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) and related entities
Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB)
HTB is a vibrant Anglican church in the heart of London. HTB is one church on four sites – Brompton Road, Onslow Square, Queen’s Gate and Courtfield Gardens. Along with our Sunday services we run a number of community activities including caring for the homeless, working with children, youth and students, strengthening families, leading worship and prayer, visits to prisons and running Alpha courses and so much more.
Since 1985, HTB has planted teams of 10 to 200 people into a wide variety of churches throughout London and overseas. These churches were often facing closure but have been restored and are now homes to growing, worshipping communities that have a significant impact within their local areas.
Alpha International (Alpha)
Alpha began in 1977 as an introduction to the Christian faith for new Christians attending HTB. When curate Nicky Gumbel took over the running of Alpha at HTB in 1990, he noticed its appeal to those who would not describe themselves as Christians. Alpha became increasingly popular and, after the first training conference for church leaders in 1993, it started in other churches in the UK and around the world.
Alpha is now running in 169 countries and has been translated into 112 different languages. Alpha now runs in every part of the global church, including the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church and all mainline Protestant denominations. It has been tailored to a number of different contexts including Prisons, Youth, Students and Forces.
St Paul’s Theological Centre (SPTC)
SPTC was formed in 2005 as part of HTB’s family of ministries, In 2007 SPTC joined with other partners to form St Mellitus College, which has become the fastest growing theological college in the Church of England, enabling people to train and study on accredited courses while working in the local church.
It is dedicated to helping Christians explore their faith more deeply, combining academic excellence, a focus on missional leadership and the flexibility to fit around busy lifestyles. Courses run include introduction to theology, licensed lay ministry, BA in Theology and MA in Christian Leadership.
