Lancing Tabernacle Evangelical Free Church
Lancing is a large village (population: nearly 20,000) on the South Coast between Worthing and Brighton. It is on a direct train line to London (1 hour 20 minutes) and within easy walking distance of the beach and the Sussex Downs. The general area is referred to the Adur District, and comprises Lancing, Shoreham-by-Sea and Sompting.
The church is situated in a prominent position on the main shopping street, close to the railway station, and bus stops, so footfall past the church is high. We own a church manse which is around 10 minutes’ walk away.
Lancing Tabernacle (The Tab) has been a feature of village life since 1927 when the church began by meeting in Louise Wilson’s home on the sea front. Our current building was constructed in 1937, with extensions in the 1950s and 1980s. We celebrated our 90th anniversary in 2017.
Since 1955 the Tab has been served by four Pastors; all have had long ministries, the present pastor has been in place for 21 years.
