St Judes Church Wolverhampton
St Jude's church is a community that gathers from across Wolverhampton. We have 170 members on the electoral roll, 65% live outside the parish. On Sundays, last year, we had an average attendance of 128 adults and 20 young people under the age of sixteen. Our engagement with the local community runs throughout the week. We hold a weekly open surgery, Advise, to provide impartial advice to people with problems to do with housing, welfare and employment. During school terms we run a Toddler Church and Carers & Toddlers group with over 80 families on the books, most of whom are not church members. We hold monthly afternoon tea for older people. The Church Hall and Parish Room is used through the week by a variety of groups: Girlguides, amateur dramatics, drug rehabilitation, keep fit, lunch club, and occasional private parties. We have good links with two local primary schools and a number of residential care homes. The phrase "Receiving, Living and Sharing Christ as Lord" (a summary of 2 Cor.4:1-10) sums up all we are trying to achieve.
