St Peter's Foundation
St Peter's Foundation was set up in 2016 and is now in its second year of offering a residential community experience for young adults interested in exploring vocation, learning new work skills and growing in discipleship. The project is run by the Anglican diocese of Exeter and has transformed a former vicarage into a beautiful residence a mile from the Salcombe coast. This is one of the prettiest areas in the UK and a popular holiday destination. Volunteers come and live for a year and work half the week with local sponsoring business who specialize in the hospitality industry. The rest of the week involves pastoral and mission work, study, and communal living.
Daniel French, the vicar of Salcombe and is sympathetic to both Catholic and Evangelical traditions within the Church of England and has initiated this to help young adults grow in an authentic discipleship. His preaching, pastoral work and writings a combines a generous Biblical orthodoxy, a contemporary style with a wide knowledge of ancient Christian wisdom. He is at present working on a discipleship course which makes accessible part of the wisdom of Saint Benedict as a response to the secularization of society and the Church. The book is entitled 'The Shift' and is the natural successor to his first work 'The Extra Mile - eight practices for discipleship.'
